    So, this review is for U-Haul in general, but I did deal with the staff and manager at the Gardena location. I made what I believe to be a reservation by phone. I reserved and scheduled to pickup a cargo trailer at the Gardena location and gave my credit card information. A while later I get a call from U-Haul informing me that the location that I reserved and scheduled my pickup from does not have the trailer after all, even though I had also checked the availability through the online reservation and scheduling process.     Left stranded on the highway for over 4 hours due to inappropriate actions by uhaul employesss My son-in law mother rented a uhaul truck to move him from Charlotte to Fayetteville NC.   • Uhaul's Ubox - don't recommend it if you want your property undamaged



    I rented a Ubox to move some furniture from Carrollton, Texas to Charlottesville, Virginia. I took out insurance on the U-box and contracted a mover through Uhaul's online Moving Help. When my Ubox arrived at my destination in Charlottesville, the mover which was also contracted through Uhaul advised me that the marble top on my antique dresser was cracked in half. Uhaul had me file a claim with Rep West. That's a joke, they took 60 days to get me an answer.     Save yourself some trouble and do business with someone else – ANYONE but UHaul! Received a confirmation email AND phone call from UHaul the day before my scheduled reservation (which had been made 1 month in advance) informing me of the pickup location the following morning at 9am.   • terrible companywith absolutely NO customer loyalty



    We rernted a uhaul truck to take my son back to college, the renting facility informed us,and showed us the contract that if no truck was available or we had to go to a different site there would be a fifty dollar credit.     After changing my reservation twice, to different locations (one 42 miles away in another city), different times and different days. I had to go back home without my furniture because the final (third) proposed time and date I had to be back at work. All of this trouble even though before I booked I called and verified the truck will be available.   • Poor scheduling and Customer Service at Corporate very rude



    We scheduled several days in advance and set up a moving crew when scheduling called to let us know that we would have to pick up our truck an hour away because another client was late. Ok, let me figure this out .... they collect a late fee from the overdue customer at our expense. We were promised free kilometers to offset - for the distance out of our way only to find that we called (as we don't trust the scheduling at U-Haul) just after getting the news and no credit will be given for kilometers now.   • leaky trailer, no lights working on trailer, poor (NO) customer service



    We picked up our trailer at Travel Store #3 in Washington, N.C. Only the left turn signal was working and the idiot told us we could drive it like that! It took us half a day to get everything working on it, which defeated the purpose of getting it at 8 a.m. Then when we arrived at our destination and unloaded it, our mattress set was soaked from rain.   • Worst Experience Ever! Never Use Uhaul Again!



    First of all we tried to book the truck several weeks in advance, but Uhaul will not confirm anything until 2 days before you actually get the truck. So 2 days before we get the truck, they tell us we have to drive half hour to another city to pick it up because there are no trucks in our city. They say we%u2019ll get another 50km distance but we still have to pay for the extra gas to drive there and back.     I'm very very unhappy with the mapunapuna location of u-haul.! I have storage on the second floor and run a business of which I need to transport equipment on a weekly basis and the elevator has been out of service for over 6 weeks. Talked to manager and there excuse is that there waiting on parts! The only way that you can get to your storage is to take your equipment down the stairs which is located in the rear of the storage unit down over 30 flights of stairs..     Scheduled a 9am pickup for a 15 ft truck for an out-of-state move. When I arrived, there was ONE Uhaul truck with the flatest tire I have ever seen (possibly slashed?). Called customer service on 4 different phones & spent an hour trying to get it sorted out. Their only advice: they can provide a replacement within 24 hours.   • Uhaul trailer with bad tires, VERY poor (none) Customer Service



    Rented a 6 x 12 foot trailer from Traverse City, MI. Made it about 700 miles when one of the left tires blew. Had to leave our vehicle, due to heavy traffic and shoulder construction, and wait downhill in blistering heat. Manager in Traverse City stated they are not responsible once trailer leaves their lot.     While planning a one-way trip back to North Carolina from Ohio we booked a uhaul and had a price given when booked online.     U haul everyone knows the name. They are a company that charges alot for sub standard service.     I don't even know where to start.... This all started back 2 weeks ago when I needed my father to pick up a truck for me while I was at work.   • Uhaul left ubox in the rain, bad customer service



    I moved using Uboxes from Uhaul. There were issues EVERY STEP of the way. The worst was that they left all 7 of my U boxes out overnight in an unsecure area without proper covering. It rained that night (a down pour) and they all got wet. I found out by accident (no manager contacted me).     This location may or may not be the problem. We don't know where the disconnect has taken place since we have been on the phone for several hours with different entities at different times to address numerous issues but keep getting bounced around.   • Credits Not applied timely but the debits are instant



    When renting a truck an estimate was done for $234. When the unit was returned the actual cost was $162. I used my debit card and it was instantly debit both time for the total of $396. I was told it may take up to 5 days for the credit to make it back to my checking account. What a bunch of crap. If an account can be instantly debited I can't imagine why it couldn't be instantly credited as well.     Every single time I reserve a truck they call me the night before with a truck that is 10-16 feet shorter than what I reserved or they put me 60 miles out of the location I reserved it at. I have had nothing but horrible experience with Uhaul. I always call the 800 number thinking they can just find me what I need or I have done it online. The same thing happens every time.     DO NOT USE THIS U-HAUL LOCATION!!! My entire experience has been an absolute nightmare. I am currently awaiting an acceptable response via the Better Business Bureau.     I tried to rent pods and moving help though the Uhaul website. It took my money and didn't give me a reservation. As I tried to talk to anyone who could help, they passed me around and stole hours of my life.     I rented a UBox. I got charged $550 before even leaving the state I was moving from. But moving on. Not only did their GM at the receiving store hang up on me so did their corporate office. I call back. The corporate office say 'oh I thought our conversation was over'. IT'S FAR FROM OVER..they have been holding my items from my move to Florida for over 30 days on their mistake.     My girlfriend and I recently made the move from the east coast to Colorado and since our car has no trailer hitch we decided to employ Uhaul's U-Box for transporting all of our possessions. In hindsight, we shouldn't have left the dogs medicine in the box as it is currently 11 days missing.     I live in Canada and we saw the trucks in the street were states they rent the truck for certain price. Turns out that the price is in a foreign currency and when is converted to the local currency they are more expensive that the competence... We have a guaranteed deliver of 6/5/14, only to call that evening to find out they in fact have not even left the state they were coming from.     Carefully reserved a cargo van or one way to NYC from Washington, DC (Rockville Office). We were specific in requiring a cargo van since commercial trucks are not allowed in our home area of NYC.     I reserved a 20' truck three weeks before my pick-up date. I called the day before to confirm (because they did a bait & switch on me last time), and they said that my truck's "brakes don't work." As there were no other 20' trucks available, I was stuck with a 14' truck. Instead of taking 1, MAYBE 2 trips, it took me 3 trips to load and unload the truck.
