uHaul and false Guarantee - uhaul reservations


Carefully reserved a cargo van or one way to NYC from Washington, DC (Rockville Office). We were specific in requiring a cargo van since commercial trucks are not allowed in our home area of NYC. Arrived and were told no Cargo van but we'd been upgraded to a 10". Uhaul site is rift with comments over folks in NYC getting busted over large uHaul trucks. Disappointed, we asked the very friendly staff for our $50 refund (based on their reservation guarantee -- if what you rent isn't available when you arrive we'll give you $50.) The counter guy tried - he clearly saw uHaul's screwup -- but couldn't. Called someone name Dawn Williams, who explained the guarantee wasn't valid if we were "upgraded". Ugh. Nightmare. I noticed that uHaul had a class action lawsuit settlement over this very same issue in California. How does this company get away with this?

Our goal is always to make your move easier since we realize moving can be a stressful time. I would like the opportunity to research your concerns further and offer you an appropriate response. Please be advised if we have confirmed your reservation with a pick up location, time, and size of equipment and then we fail to fill your confirmed request, we pay our customer $50 for that failure. I need to know the date of your reservation and/or rental, the address of the U-Haul location involved and the name of the lessee listed on the agreement.
